Mayor’s Message
As the Mayor of Lynnwood, I encourage everyone to
use the directory as a guide to the vast array of services,
shopping and dining available in our city. By spending
your dollars in our community, you help keep more tax
revenue right where it will be invested back into our
neighborhoods, parks, roads, and public safety. Plus,
supporting our local businesses keeps our community
vibrant, creates more jobs, and encourages local
prosperity.
One of my top priorities has been to increase the
connection between city government and our residents. We are making
a concerted effort to tell our story, to share with our residents what is
going on in our great city. I want City Hall to be known as a place where
our residents can come to find useful information and connect with city
employees, or even visit the Mayor’s office. We are also actively engaging
with our community partners, local non-profits, neighboring cities, and our
state legislators. This regional collaborative spirit is important for our city’s
success as well as the success of Snohomish County.
Through the efforts of our dedicated city staff, Lynnwood is poised to achieve
our community vision of becoming a regional model for a sustainable,
vibrant community with engaged citizens and an accountable government.
Our city staff, elected officials, and community partners are committed to
making Lynnwood a community that we can all be proud to call home.
Lynnwood continues to grow toward our vision of the most livable city
north of Seattle. In 2015, the first phase of development at Lynnwood Place
came to fruition, with the opening of Costco. Located adjacent to Alderwood
Mall, development at Lynnwood Place continues, with plans for a mixed-use
building, featuring retail and resident living space.
Quality housing is another of our top priorities. In the summer of 2017,
CityCenter Apartments and City Center Senior Living Apartments opened
their doors to residents. Resident amenities include a swimming pool, an
interior courtyard, a rooftop area, and a public plaza; within minutes of
shopping, restaurants, and services.
In just a few short years, Sound Transit’s light rail will reach the Lynnwood
Transit Center which is located in the City Center. A trip from Lynnwood
to downtown Seattle on the light rail is expected to take 28 minutes. The
extension is projected to carry 74,000 riders each weekday by the year 2035.
This is an exciting time for Lynnwood. With everyone working together, I am
confident that Lynnwood will become a city with a great deal more!
