THE LYNNWOOD BRAND STORY
Did you know that the City of Lynnwood has a brand story to tell?
Few people do, but here it is ....
In Spring of 2007, the citizens of our community undertook a rigorous visioning
process. They came together to give Lynnwood a common focus for the future,
“Lynnwood Moving Forward, Our Community Vision”. One of the strategies to
realize that vision was to create a Lynnwood brand identity. The City selected
Northstar Destination Strategies to guide us through the branding process. A seven
member Branding Steering committee was selected and months of research began.
Northstar interviewed residents, businesses, stakeholders, local and regional elected
officials, members of neighborhood communities and Lynnwood visitors. They
poured through volumes of records, research and visitor inquiries seeking the answer
to the question, “What is Lynnwood?”
We learned that Lynnwood is much more than traffic and shopping. People
outside of our community just didn’t know it. We have a vibrant community and
an engaged population. Lynnwood is a people focused community with a lot to
offer... arts, culture, parks and trails, higher education and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Our diverse population is actively engaged in shaping the city’s future as a leading
marketplace of business and commerce; and as the perfect place to call home.
It became evident that Lynnwood is a marketplace. We are an accessible
commercial hub; we embrace openness and diversity and encourage social activity.
We have a citywide vision and a great story to tell. We need to start sharing our
story! We need to let everyone know that Lynnwood offers residents, businesses and
the surrounding communities a great deal more than people realize.
And that is the Lynnwood brand; the symbolic embodiment of all the information
connected with our City. It encompasses the set of expectations associated with
the City. It is who we are and how we want the world to perceive us. It carries the
promise that our community has qualities and characteristics that make us unique.
Our brand will contribute to policy making, social and economic development and
citywide strategy.
So now you know the Lynnwood Brand; you know that Lynnwood is a community
that offers a great deal more.
