12 Message from the School District

Burlington-Edison School District (B-ESD) is centrally
located in the Skagit Valley, in the northwestern corner of
Washington State. Our district serves more than 3,100
students from Preschool to 12th grade. Our student
population is diverse and culturally rich, and our staff greatly
values the strengths that our students bring to school with
them each and every day.
B-ESD, a district of 150 square miles, which encompasses
the city of Burlington and the surrounding communities of Bow,
Dr. Chris Pearson Edison, Alger, Samish Island and others, offers exceptional
Burlington - Edison learning experiences for students, as well as an abundance of
School Superintendent opportunities for educators and support personnel. B-ESD
currently consists of seven school buildings including Allen School (K-8), Bay View
School (K-8), Edison School (K-8), Lucille Umbarger School (K-8), West View School
(P-6, Dual Language), Burlington-Edison High School (9-12), and Burlington-Edison
North Alternative Program (9-12).
Essential to the effectiveness of our school district is the involvement of family
and community partners. Parent and community volunteers provide support and
serve on a variety of committees to participate in the decision-making process.
Our community and school district are partners working together to educate each
student for lifelong success. B-ESD provides a supportive and dynamic environment
for making a difference in young lives and enriching the educational experience.
