12 Superintendent Message

The Burlington-Edison School District is located in the
vibrant and agriculture-rich Skagit Valley within Skagit
County. Smaller communities of Edison, Allen, Alger, Bow,
Blanchard, Bay View, and Samish Island combine with
Burlington to form a district of 150 square miles serving
more than 3,500 students in grades P-12.
Seven schools serve students throughout the district.
Students in grades P-8 attend one of our five elementary
sites that include Allen, Bay View, Edison, Lucille Umbarger,
and West View schools. Burlington-Edison High School is
the educational center for students in grades 9-12, with an
alternative high school serving approximately 60 students.
Our students graduate prepared to succeed in college
and in careers, with many opportunities throughout high
Laurel Browning school to experience challenging coursework, Science
Burlington - Edison Technology Engineering and Mathematics, and Career
School Superintendent and Technical Education programs. Thriving business
establishments contribute to our stable enrollment.
Essential to the effectiveness of our school district is the involvement of the
community in all aspects of the school district. We are committed to educating each
student for lifelong success with a focus on communication, collaboration, critical
thinking, and creativity. Our partnerships thrive when parents and community
members join us by volunteering in classrooms, hosting outside classroom field
experiences, supporting co-curricular activities and athletics, or serving on
education committees. Our community and school district work together to prepare
each child for his or her future. Welcome to an exceptional community and an
